I wish i could have done this sort of thing as work experience when i was in school - all i ended up doing was sit in a solicitor's library and either sleeping from the mustiness or photocopying.... |
| 2. | Re: Work Experiance Posted by Nelmes on 26/09/2007 22:40:23 Isn't that the name of Korn's guitarist?? ;-)

| 3. | Re: Equipment Posted by Nelmes on 03/10/2007 17:21:52 What about Vox? You can get some fantastic sounds out of those amps! |
| 4. | Re: Equipment Posted by Nelmes on 04/10/2007 08:08:52 I must admit that i have never had the pleasure of playing with any mesa boogie merchandise, and can't attribute a sound to them - do you have any sample links, please?

| 5. | Re: Equipment Posted by Nelmes on 06/10/2007 08:39:34 I can agree there. I must admit, though, that the marshall combo amps irritate me something terrible - for combos, i'd be going for Hughes and Kettner or Vox all the way!

| 8. | Bands Performing @ Sky Posted by Nelmes on 23/09/2007 19:57:51
Well, i certainly know what i'd like to see - a regular turnout of local and not-so local bands and artists performing (and, of course, recording ;-)) at the Sky venue.
If you are in a band or are an artist, or even know of bands or artists who are looking for a means to entertain the masses - please get in touch with us or poke and prod them to get in touch with us (preferrably through official means - don't worry, we don't bite. Unless you're made of chocolate cake, ... |
| 9. | Re: I know a few!! Posted by Nelmes on 09/10/2007 23:43:29 Now that's just mean! it's not a question of being brave enough - it's a question of whether i can be arsed! In honesty, i really wouldn't mind doing a spot of moonlighting with a hair metal band (and, of course, i thank you for your confidence in my "abilities", ethereal admin!), but of course, the studio, med school and wife must come first (in no particular order, of course - especially if she is reading this...). Aside from that, i would wonder what sort of dedication would be ... |
| 10. | Re: I know a few!! Posted by Nelmes on 11/10/2007 20:29:29 good luck!

| 11. | Re: The Likeness Acoustic!! Posted by Nelmes on 03/10/2007 16:43:48
I would be ashamed to miss it! If my wife permits me use of the car, then i shall be there! And of course, assuming i'm allowed out and don't have a bed time ;-). Out of curiosity, being a non-Biddulphian, where and what is the Roaring Meg, please?

| 12. | Re: The Likeness Acoustic!! Posted by Nelmes on 09/10/2007 23:44:42 Well, you're very welcome and no worries whatsoever - you're a great bunch of lads (to thieve the father ted phrase) and fantastic performers - everybody should come along to support y'all (to tthieve a ghetto term).

| 13. | Re: The Likeness Acoustic!! Posted by Nelmes on 07/10/2007 10:47:50 Well, i was there for the dulcet sounds of "Acoustic Lounge" and i must say that they rocked! Even the Meg's resident dog thought so, too! Quite possibly one of the strangest audiences i've ever had the pleasure of being a part of, but the guys did a great job of converting some of the "Darkness'" tunes into their acoustic counterparts, a bit of Bowie and an almost techno-remix of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here!" - all in all, a very good night! Now, to all of ... |
| 14. | Re: The Likeness Acoustic!! Posted by Nelmes on 06/10/2007 08:38:16 Well, assuming i can find the place then i shall be there!!! will there be an entrance fee or anything along those lines or are te ar just hoping that many a drink will be purchased?
God bless,

| 15. | Re: D.J Posted by Nelmes on 09/10/2007 23:35:49 Surely such qualifications mean that he doesn't need to be vetted? His sort are a dying breed! Long live the legacy of black lace and the dodgy 80's disco! |
| 16. | Re: Age restrictions Posted by Nelmes on 04/10/2007 08:07:48 Ha ha ha - very well said.

| 17. | Re: Age restrictions Posted by Nelmes on 28/09/2007 15:55:53 At the moment, there is talk that membership is going to be free, but if i may suggest that from medical research, people generally don't value things as much if they didn't have to pay something for it. It was mainly a study done into compliance to medications, but they found that just putting a blanket charge of £1 on all prescriptions, regardless of a person's financial status, meant they were much more likely to take that medication. Further studies have said the same for membership ... |
| 18. | Re: Age restrictions Posted by Nelmes on 03/10/2007 13:06:54
I must say that i am shocked my opinion was listened too - it's like a time, long ago, when i wasn't married...... ;-)

| 19. | Re: An Educational Link! Posted by Nelmes on 26/09/2007 22:43:34 Acting lessons! Crikey, that's pushing the boat out a little! Or do you mean stage mannerisms to do with musical performance? I think it's mentioned elsewhere that there's thoughts on stagecraft and showmanship teaching - let us know what you mean by that statement, though!

| 20. | An Educational Link! Posted by Nelmes on 23/09/2007 20:14:16
Well, first it was Karl Marx who said "education, education, education" and many years later, Tony Blair alluded to it with his party and governmental policies. While i'm not going to spout that off, i will, however, hope to see music students (GCSE, A-level and University) utilising our resources. Not only because Sky is a business, but also because we love what we do and want to encourage those that we can! As such, i'm sure you've already noticed that many forms of tuition ... |
| 21. | Re: Hair Metal Band seeks Bassist and Vocalist Posted by Nelmes on 23/09/2007 21:15:22
Hair metal! Awesome! It's about time it made a proper comeback! So, are you a cover band, performing your own material or even a bit of both? Who are your influences? Will any associated performer be required to don unnecessarily tight trousers? |
| 22. | A Bit of Trouble With the Forum Posted by Nelmes on 23/09/2007 20:18:25
Now, i don't like to be one to complain, but i can't alter my profile. I would have pm'd this to you, Admin, but i'm getting script errors and so can't do it. Ah, well.

| 23. | Re: A Bit of Trouble With the Forum Posted by Nelmes on 26/09/2007 22:41:15 Awesome and likewise! No worries though, it's not really anything urgent!

| 24. | Re: A Bit of Trouble With the Forum Posted by Nelmes on 28/09/2007 08:19:38 HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOR TOMORROW! Is it 21 again? Hope you have a good one, boss!

| 25. | Re: Wow Posted by Nelmes on 26/09/2007 22:39:31 Of course it's a brilliant idea! It was laid down by the residing power that is the admin! I don't think any official list of rules has been hammered out yet, but it's more than likely that if the prize revolves around studio time and media packages, then it would be better to perform your own works - after all, it's your original band's musical career that's getting a bump forward from the prizes! Who knows, if the day/weekend/time period of the event is filled with different competition ... |
